49ers to confirm another impressive Leeds United off-field agreement to show serious intent

Leeds United have poached Martin Diggle from Liverpool to become the club’s new Academy Manager this week in another 49ers behind-the-scenes move.

After relegation, the 49ers have had their work cut out to clean up the mess left behind by Andrea Radrizzani, both on and off the field.

With the squad in need of investment, the boardroom and infrastructure of the club needed some attention as well with key additions.

Leeds to confirm Martin Diggle joins as Academy Manager from Liverpool

Training Ground Guru broke the news this week that Leeds had made another off-field swoop in 2024, now bringing in Martin Diggle from Liverpool as the new Academy Manager.

He leaves Anfield after five years working as their Head of Coach Development, aiming to support all the coaches across the Reds’ academy.

Before he joined Liverpool in this role, he previously worked for the FA, as well as at Oldham Athletic, Bolton Wanderers and as a lecturer at Leeds Beckett University.

49ers make further impressive behind-the-scenes changes

The club needed refreshing from top to bottom after being relegated from the Premier League, and the 49ers are certainly making good on that front.

Having invested well into the squad for a promotion push, we’re seeing plenty of reasons behind the scenes to suggest the future might be bright for Leeds in the long-term.

These sorts of appointments might not seem like a great deal on face value, but when added together with the various others that are coming in for key roles at the club, we have levelled up since the summer, which is impressive in the second tier.

Appointing Jordan Miles as Head of Recruitment is another key agreement, looking like we now have a much more stable boardroom and structure beyond the playing and coaching staff.
