PITTSBURGH — Former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback James Pierre has found a new home after signing a free agent contract.

Per his agent, Toney Scott and Adie von Gontard of YMAPAA Sports, James Pierre will move from the Steelers to the Washington Commanders, with financial details having yet to be reported.

Pierre, who signed with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent coming out of Florida Atlantic in 2020, has appeared in 66 games – six of which were starts – over four seasons in Pittsburgh. He accounted for 94 total tackles, two interceptions and eight passes defended.

Pierre has played primarily as a special teamer during his time with the Steelers. He accounted for 936 special teams snaps and 727 defensive snaps.

He was a valuable reserve option for the Steelers, but there was little chance he could break through to earn significant playing time with Joey Porter Jr., Donte Jackson, Levi Wallace and others sitting in front of him.
