BREAKING NEWS:Despite a major infraction being cleared of Rangers great Fabio Silva, the Celtics star faces a “dive” allegation.

Despite Celtic receiving a penalty, Peter Grant concedes that he feels sorry for John Beaton, accusing Rangers player Fabio Silva of “diving all over the place.”

The attacker from Portugal has come under fire for his performance on Derby Day in the thrilling 3-3 match. The Wolves loanee has come under fire from a number of commentators and supporters for his response to Johnston’s tackle in the first half at Ibrox, where the Celtic star obstructed his path and the Canada international was booked.

But after a challenge from the right-back, Silva fell down in the box, making things worse for Johnston. The Rangers star was booked for simulation by referee Beaton, who later overturned his ruling after a VAR review. After falling behind 2-0, James Tavernier scored to ignite the Light Blues’ comeback, tying the Old Firm derby 3-3 and maintaining a one-point lead in the Scottish Premiership.

Grant, however, didn’t mince words when talking about Silva on BBC Sportscene, even if he acknowledged that whistler Beaton had the right to award the home team a penalty. “I initially thought it was a penalty,” he stated. I was beginning to doubt it when I saw the replays and saw that he had made contact with the ball, but after seeing Silva’s second touch, it became clear why he had awarded it.
