This 2024 NFL free agency, the Las Vegas Raiders are still adding talented players to their roster.

Alexander Mattison, a free agent running back who was formerly with the Minnesota Vikings, was signed by the Raiders on Monday.

During his five seasons in Minnesota,

 

served as Dalvin Cook’s backup running back.

Mattison played in 75 games for the Vikings, gaining 2,370 yards on 584 carries and 11 touchdowns via the air.

Last season, Mattison played in 16 games, rushing for 700 yards on 180 carries. According to Pro Football Focus, he ended the 2023-24 NFL regular season with a PFF offensive grade of 61.8, a rushing grade of 70.2 and a receiving grade of 41.2.

Hladik talked about Mattison and his role as a running back.

“You now have a guy like Alexander Mattison, who’s been around and understands what it’s like to be part of a timeshare and to be part of a rotation there, and I think you said he could do some different things, so they’ll be able to utilize him,” Hladik said.

Mattison will have the chance to pair with running back Zamir White,  who showed flashes of brilliance toward the end of the 2023-24 NFL season. He finished the season with 521 yards rushing on 121 carries and one touchdown.

According to Pro Football Focus, White finished the season with a PFF offensive grade of 71.7, a rushing grade of 70.6 and a receiving grade of 69.7.

It will be exciting to see what this new running back duo will bring to the Silver and Black offense next season.
