Coventry City boss provides injury latest on Victor Torp ahead of Preston and Maidston

Coventry City injury news from CoventryLive as Mark Robins still

waiting to find out the full extent of Victor Torp’s calf problem

Mark Robins, who is getting his Championship team ready for this

weekend’s major league and cup double header at the CBS Arena, is still awaiting

word on the exact extent of Coventry City player Victor Torp’s injury.

Asked for an update on the injury and whether the 24-year-old January signing

is hoped to be available for the weekend schedule, which starts with play-off

rivals Preston North End in the league on Friday night and is followed by non-

league Maidstone United in the FA Cup on Monday evening, the City manager said: “I don’t know yet.

We will find out more after he has had a scan, which means we will just have to wait and watch over the next days.”

Midfield is where City are stretched the

most and that could mean skipper Liam Kelly coming into the side at some stage,

although Josh Eccles and Joel Latibeaudiere appear to be Robins’ first

choice options to date. The versatile Latibeaudiere, of course, is a centre-

back by trade but started at right-back against the Potters at the weekend and

then moved to cover for Torp in the second half of the 1-0 win at the Bet365 Stadium.

The Jamaican international plays in midfield for his country, so is not

stranger to the position, in which he has filled on a number of occasions to good

effect, not least at Leeds United in

December where City earned a 1-1 draw at Elland Road. But central midfield is

Kelly’s natural position and, as he showed at the back end of last season, the experienced captain still has plenty to offer.
