Daniel Jeremiah’s 2nd 2024 NFL mock draft: Falcons draft a quarterback

It is mock draft season and, in all honestly, any mock sending a

quarterback to the Falcons is notable. It has been a loooooong time since Falcons

fans have seen anything close to respectable quarterback play, and an

even longer time since the Falcons made the playoffs. It really should be time to fix both problems.

And now for Daniel Jeremiah’s rough draft.

Let’s go back to Jeremiah’s mocks to

make sure everything is covered. I could pull them up with ease.

Just to make sure everything is covered, let’s review Jeremiah’s mocks. I could easily pull them up.

In 2015, the Falcons selected Vic Beasley and Amari Cooper.

That’s a lot of misses, but I should mention that Jeremiah does a handful of

mocks every year. Assuming he doesn’t just roll out the same mock every time, those names change from time to time.

I say all of that to say his selection for the Atlanta Falcons is alarming and

concerning to me. Here’s his pick from his second mock of the offseason:

Many in the NFL anticipate that the Falcons will select a quarterback with great vigor in this year’s selection. They

could stay at No. 8 and gamble on the qualities of [Michigan’s J.J.] McCarthy, or

they could move up, as they are doing here.

Jeremiah mentions that there will be plenty of opportunities for deals in the

NFL Draft of 2024. However, Jeremiah waits until his final mock draft of the

season to begin making trade predictions. I don’t think Atlanta can

stay at 8 and wait for the draft to

happen after their quarterback play the previous year and the year before.

Ultimately, the final person to attempt

such was fired within six nanoseconds of Black Monday

McCarthy, however, is not a top-10 pick, according to SB Nation analyst and self-

professed Michigan hater Joeanna Kelley. For context, Michigan defeated

Ohio State, ranked second, 30–24, in November.
