‘It’s bad’… Steve Sidwell gives his verdict on Nottingham Forest controversy

Steve Sidwell has given his take on the controversy in the final minutes of the

Premier League match between Nottingham Forest and Liverpool at the City Ground last weekend.

Nottingham Forest lost their Premier League match against Liverpool last Saturday, 1-0, at the City Ground.

Darwin Nunez, an international striker for Uruguay, scored the game’s lone goal in the ninth minute of injury time.

Nunez made his way home after receiving the cross from Alexis Mac

Allister. The goal was the result of defensive blunders at the back, but the preceding events were very contentious.

Play was restarted from a drop ball, but referee Paul Tierney gave the ball to

Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher in error.

Less than two minutes had passed before Núnez left for his house. In the

ninth minute of injury time, the goal was scored. Graham Scott, the fourth official,

indicated eight further minutes; nevertheless, the figure held up is a minimum, according to The Guardian.

Steve Sidwell on Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool controversy

Steve Sidwell, a former midfielder for Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion,

commented on the dispute and stated that the choice was incorrect.

It’s awful, Sidwell stated on That Peter Crouch Podcast. It is mandated by law.

It’s the incorrect choice. It is objective. He did not do what was right. It was a huge mistake!

My View: Nottingham Forest need to move on

I think it’s time for Nottingham Forest to move on. I don’t think it’s necessary to

again discuss the situation from the match versus Liverpool.

Nuno’s team should, in my opinion, just accept that Forest lost the game and

move on. This following weekend, they play Brighton and Hove Albion in the

Premier League, and I am betting on them to win.
