It’s Huge Game For Leeds United, For Us Just Another Game – Leicester City Boss
Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca has claimed that Friday night’s clash at
Elland Road is a bigger game for Leeds United than his side.
In just over a day, Leeds and Leicester will play in the Championship as top-of-the-table opponents in west Yorkshire.
The Whites enter the match riding a winning eight-game run in the
Championship, while Leicester suffered a recent home loss to Middlesbrough.
But Leicester leads the Championship standings by six points, and if they beat
Leeds at Elland Road for the first time since September, they might increase their lead to nine.
Maresca, meanwhile, emphasized that
Friday night’s match is just another one for his Leicester squad
He did, however, stress that Leeds had a greater task because Leicester is leading
and Ipswich Town is vying for the final automatic promotion slot.
“I think it’s an important game, and every time we win a game, we move
closer to the target,” Maresca stated during a press conference. If, however, it does not occur, we continue.
“They are nine points behind us, so it’s a big game for them more than anything else.
“Yes, we have to win the game if we are nine points behind.”
Although Leicester is still the clear favorite to win the Championship this
year, Leeds did defeat the Foxes 1-0 at the King Power Stadium earlier in the season.
