JUST IN: Christ Wood Confirm To Leave Nottingham Nottingham And Join…

Chris Wood, a striker for Nottingham Forest, sustained an injury during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Luton Town. The Reds may now have to play without him for a short spell.

In a relegation six-pointer, Forest and the Hatters tied 1-1, with Wood scoring his tenth goal of the year overall. But the Reds have now dropped behind Luton following their four-point deduction.

Forest will now have to wait anxiously to find out how Wood is doing. Recent reports appear to have confirmed that the harm sustained is more serious than a minor ache.

Chris Wood, a striker for Forest, leaves the New Zealand team.
To be honest, from a Forest standpoint, the most recent update doesn’t seem promising. Since Wood is the team’s top scorer and Taiwo Awoniyi is sidelined due to injury, it is imperative that the 32-year-old stay healthy.

According to New Zealand outlet Stuff, Wood has now officially withdrawn from the national team. The international captain will now miss the game against Egypt on Friday night.

It’s not clear what Wood has actually done, although it appeared that he was holding his thigh as he left the field at Kenilworth Road. That was the same injury he sustained that ended his campaign last term.

That would leave Divock Origi as the only natural striker within the squad. Nuno Espirito Santo played him out wide against Luton, however, and perhaps he’s unfancied through the middle.

It could be a case of needs must, however, when Forest take on Crystal Palace. With the Reds just a point adrift of safety they will want to get back above the dotted line as quickly as possible and put some pressure on the teams above them.

Wood has been integral to Forest this season. Now, all Forest can do is keep everything crossed that he can return to the team quickly and keep scoring goals for the Reds.
