Leeds United, who closed the gap on Leicester City to three points over the weekend, will be looking to lead the Championship going into the March international break. On Friday night, Daniel Farke’s team defeated Sheffield Wednesday 2-0. Then, Ipswich Town lost to Cardiff City and the Foxes drew with Hull City.

Loan clauses stitched up Daniel Farke when he took the reins after the side were relegated, seeing key assets taken from the club with little money coming in return.

Max Wöber’s exit didn’t sit right after being part of the squad during the early stages of pre-season, only to flee at the first sign of Borussia Monchengladbach interest.

The Austrian international’s reputation seems to have improved this season thanks to a loan in the Bundesliga; German reports regularly state that the Monchengladbach board is happy with Wöber.

But according to SportBild (via Sport Witness), the Bundesliga team want to reorganize its roster for the upcoming campaign, placing a greater emphasis on homegrown players.

This indicates that Monchengladbach’s formerly supportive view of the defender has now changed, which is a setback for Wöber.

It’s not that much of a surprise that Leeds are going to struggle to sell these players, given that they’re performing at the same level as they did here.

Wöber is seemingly popular at his current loan club, but he’s not helped them improve defensively, well worse off from when Daniel Farke was there last season.

Hopefully a run of form between now and the end of the season, coupled with the Euro’s, helps Leeds get a good fee out of him.
