Jones, a graduate of The Bolles School, committed to Alabama and would go on to become an All-American and National Champion. It was this success that led the Patriots to draft the Duval native.
“Honestly, I haven’t spent as much time back here as I would like, so it feels good to be back,” Jones said. “You get drafted up to the northeast, it’s a quick turnaround,” Jones said of his return to Alabama. After then, as you are aware, life moves quickly. Naturally, my parents reside here, and I attended Bolles and all of stuff, so it feels good to be back.
“I have a lot of friends around the area, but my main focus is always going to be football. It just feels good, my grandma is here, she’s never been to a game so maybe we’ll get here to a Jacksonville game to watch me, and I think that’ll be awesome. You never know what happens, so it’s kind of full circle,” said Jones.
For Jones, this is essentially a dream come true. He was up as a Jaguars supporter and now gets to play for the team he has always supported. It is a chance to get settled and comfortable, even if only as Lawrence’s backup.
