Just In: Taxpayers spending $18M on DEI employees at MSU

(The Marketplace) – More than $18 million is spent annually by Michigan State University on DEI staff members.

A new research by The College Fix claims that MSU has employed over 140 people to work on 222 distinct initiatives related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. As to the latest report from the institution, out of the 200 initiatives, 200 are either in the process of being analyzed or have already been: implemented.

Spokesman Mark Bullion told The College Fix that diversity, equity, and inclusion are ideals that support and facilitate the land grant purpose of increasing educational access for all. “There is no funding set out for “DEI.” Administrators of diversity, equity, and inclusion make up a very small portion of the workforce—there are over 12,000 workers overall.

Before benefits, Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer Jabbar Bennett made $363,511 this year. Deborah Johnson receives $204,471 year in her role as director of the Diversity Research Network.

There are other Michigan universities that have a DEI program that is supported by the state. The University of Michigan employs 241 people specifically dedicated to DEI, paying out an estimated $30 million a year in wages. Of these employees, thirteen make more than $200,000.

“Public institutions have been receiving billions of dollars from taxpayers, and
