JUST IN: Tottenham Hotspur working on deal for Archie Gray after Leeds midfielder rejected Brentford move…

After rejecting a bid for Archie Gray from Brentford, Tottenham Hotspur is preparing to sign him from Leeds United.

Even though nothing has been finalized as of yet, discussions are still ongoing and everyone is hoping for a deal.

Gray agreed to personal terms and went through a physical at Brentford on Saturday. However, he has since had a change of heart and is leaning towards joining Spurs if he leaves Leeds.

The 18-year-old midfielder is being pursued by a number of Premier League and European teams, including Tottenham, who have been investigating the situation for months.

After maneuvering into the strongest position and appearing certain to win the race, Brentford’s proposal, which was estimated to be worth approximately £35 million, was rejected.

Although personal terms are not yet set, Gray will speak with Tottenham on Sunday about changing the direction of travel.

Spurs had a strong, long-standing admiration for the highly-rated youth, as The Athletic covered in a previous edition of the Transfer DealSheet.

Shortly before the 17-year-old England Under-21 international signed professional terms with Leeds, they made an approach to try to recruit Gray, but the player chose to remain at Elland Road.

Having made 52 appearances in all competitions in the previous season, Gray—the great nephew of the beloved former Leeds player and manager Eddie Gray—enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with Leeds.
