Just in:Keenan Allen comments on Bears Future After Trade
Keenan Allen was just acquired by the Chicago Bears and commented on his future with the team.
The Chicago Bears have been aggressively looking to improve the roster ahead of the 2024 campaign. They
own the No. 1 and No. 9 overall picks and will likely use the first selection on a QB, presumably USC’s Caleb Williams.
They made a big-time addition to the WR core when they traded a 2024 fourth-round pick for Keenan Allen
The 31-year-old declined to take a pay cut from the Los Angeles Chargers and
was shipped out of town. Allen is slated to have a $23 million cap hit in 2024 but is entering the final year of his deal.
In his first press conference with Chicago reporters, Allen was asked if he
wanted to stay with the team for the long term. He said, “Absolutely. Or we
wouldn’t be here right now. Obviously, we’ll get there down the line”.
He then was asked whether that hints at a new contract but he stated, “No, not
really. We’re just kind of taking it one day at a time. Got one year left and we’ll see what happens.”
Keenan Allen Comments on Bears Future
Allen didn’t give a concrete answer on whether he will be in the Windy City for
the long haul but the Bears would be wise to extend the former California standout.
The six-time Pro Bowl selection is one of the best playmakers at his position and
has a knack for creating separation with ease.
He’s coming off his best campaign in 2023 where he posted career-highs in
receptions (108) and receiving yards (1,243) with seven touchdowns.
The 1-2 punch of Allen and D.J. Moore has the potential to be one of the best
duos in the league. Chicago would be wise to keep Allen around for the foreseeable future.
