Kevin Durant Commends on Celtics’ Strategy

The Celtics snapped their two-game losing streak with a road victory over Kevin Durant and the Suns on Saturday night. As has been their modus operandi during the 2023-24 regular season, the Boston Celtics let it fly early and often from behind the 3-point arc against the Phoenix Suns.

Boston — which leads the league in 3-point attempts per game by a wide margin with 42.2 — shot 15-of-39 from deep versus Phoenix, which equates to an 38.5 percent clip.

A whopping six Celtics converted at least one three, with Jayson Tatum knocking down a team-high five of them.

Suns star forward Kevin Durant commended the Celtics’ 3-point-heavy strategy when speaking to the media after the game.

“They get up 40-50 threes a night, and they stay home a lot on threes as well, so you’ve gotta figure out where your shots (are) gonna come from if you can’t just catch and shoot. They got a solid strategy over there, and it’s one of those strategies where they might be playing a bad game early on, but in the course of the game, it’ll come back around for them, and I think that’s what happened.”

Durant dropped 45 points while shooting 18-of-26 from the field, but his scoring outburst wasn’t enough to lead the Suns — who were without one of their top players, Devin Booker — to a win.
