SAD NEWS>>ORLANDO PIRATES STAR HAS BEEN SUSPENDED DUE TO

The annual football spectacle will feature teams from across the country. A total of 62 teams (male and female), will contest for the R195 000 prize pool on offer.

Hosts Orlando Pirates kick off their pursuit of a third Pirates Cup title with an opening match against Young Boys FC. Diepkloof Diplomats and Mswenko Family are the other two clubs to complete Group A.

Group B, sees SuperSport United marking their return to the tournament with an opening clash against Debunkers. They will also play against Euphoria United and Phiri Movers.

In 2019, Matsatsantsa pipped hosts 1-0 in the final to claim its maiden title courtesy of a Reagan Appolis strike from the spot.

Meanwhile, in the female division, defending champs Tuks Ladies have been drawn to face Wits University, JVW FC and University of Johannesburg.

In the other female group, Mamelodi Sundowns, Future Stars, TS Galaxy and Amahle FC will all be gunning for that top two finish that guarantees them qualification to the Knockout Stages.

The Pirates Cup will be taking place at Wits Marks Park Sports Grounds. The first matches start on Thursday, 28 March.
