‘Sanction’… Rival manager wants Nottingham Forest punished, his club could be affected

Nottingham Forest are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

Nuno’s side are 17th in the Premier League table at the moment with 24 points from 27 matches.

Nottingham Forest facing points deduction

Nottingham Forest, who lost to Liverpool at the City Ground on Saturday because of a controversial late goal, are four points above Luton Town, who are third from bottom and have played 26 games.

There is also the looming danger of a points deduction. As reported by talkSPORT, Forest have incurred Profitability and Sustainability breaches and face punishment from the Premier League.

Forest could be docked points when their hearing takes place later this month. The Premier League club will almost certainly appeal, buut the final verdict will not be delivered until after the season ends.

That is going to cause problems for just not Forest but other clubs in and around the relegation zone as well.

Thomas Frank has his say

Brentford are among the clubs who are in danger of going down to the Championship, and their manager Thomas Frank hopes that the final verdict comes out before the season ends.

The Bees boss, though, has made it clear that if Forest are found to guilty of any wrongdoing, then they should be pushed.

The London Evening Standard quotes Frank as saying: “For me, it’s very simple: if you break the rules, there needs to be sanction — end of discussion. That’s the society we’re living in, that’s the football world we’re living in — boom.

“How much, how little? There are much more clever guys than me. Luckily they take care of that and they should know what kind of sanction it should be. If it’s two points, six points, ten points, 20 points, I don’t care — that’s up to them. I’m here to try to coach a football team and try to win a few more football matches.

“The only thing I would say is Nottingham [Forest] and Everton will, with what you read, get a points deduction in the near future. They will appeal it, and then the result of that appeal we need to know before the end of the season, for everyone involved, especially for Nottingham and Everton.”

Just like Forest, Brentford are battling relegation. The London club are 15th in the Premier League table now with 26 points from 27 games.

The Bees are six points above the bottom three. They have lost three of their last five Premier League games and drew with Chelsea on Saturday.
