Former Everton chief Keith Wyness has suggested Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis could quit the club after their four-point deduction.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested the Greek has a “fiery temperament”.

Nottingham Forest were deducted four points on Monday (18 March) for breaching the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Regulations (PSR).

The Midlands club breached their allowed losses threshold of £61million by £34.5million and now sit inside the relegation zone with nine games to play.

Forest released a furious statement responding to the punishment, stating that they are “extremely dismayed” by the Premier League’s handling of their case – which has “harmed trust and confidence” in league officials.

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I’ve never met Marinakis, but from the outside, he does appear to have a very fiery temperament.

“I would think he could well throw his toys out of the pram and say that’s enough, and walk away.

“Marinakis is a fiery guy, and we’ll see where this story goes in the coming days.”

Marinakis, a media mogul and shipowner, took majority ownership of Nottingham Forest in May 2017.

He also owns Greek side Olympiacos and Portuguese outfit Rio Ave.
