Sunderland’s interim head coach Mike Dodds discusses the club’s recruitment
process ahead of the summer transfer window.
At Sunderland’s upcoming recruitment meeting, interim head coach Mike Dodds
will share his opinions as the team prepares for the summer transfer market.
After Michael Beale and the Black Cats decided to part ways last month, Dodds
will be in charge of the team’s remaining games this season. Like many other
teams, Sunderland has a head coach in charge of team coaching, while other
managers handle player signings and transfer talks.
Nonetheless, Dodds, who has been a member of the Sunderland first team
coaching staff for more than two years, will share his recruitment beliefs with
former Sunderland managers Alex Neil, Tony Mowbray, and Beale.
When describing his position, Dodds told the Echo, “I’ve been involved in previous
meetings.” “The recruitment meetings operate as follows: meetings are
scheduled all year round. It goes without saying that those meetings occur more
frequently when the window is open or about to open.
“We will provide our opinions, but the club will ultimately decide whether to
press the button that indicates whether a player is a yes or no.” However, they
were always involved, whether it was Mick, Tony, or Alex. They included the
other staff members and me in that conversation as well.
“I’m not sure when the next meeting is, but I’m sure there will be a list of players
and we’ll discuss those players in detail when we get there.”
