Unbelievable: Paul Merson sends a strong message to Ipswich & Leicester after what Leeds United did

Paul Merson sends message to Ipswich & Leicester after what Leeds United did

Following Leeds United’s latest victory, Paul Merson has issued a challenge to Ipswich and Leicester to step up in the Championship’s race for promotion.

The Whites defeated Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 at Hillsborough on Friday night to reclaim their spot in the automatic promotion spots.

Merson also acknowledged that he is anticipating a “massive” day in the Championship, with Leicester visiting Hull and Ipswich traveling to Cardiff, both of which must win to maintain pressure atop the standings.

“Very exciting day in the Championship as well at both ends of the table,” he tweeted on March 9th.

“Leicester and Suffolk have difficult games today; both teams need to win because Leeds are playing so well.”

Leeds United can’t do more

The Whites have been in absolutely sensational form in 2024 with 11 wins and a draw from their 12 Championship games so far, and their only defeat coming in injury time to Chelsea.

Because of this, they have been able to get a significant lead over Leicester at the top of the league and are now able to go for a championship rather than merely finishing in second place.

Daniel Farke has led the Peacocks to victory in their first two games of the season, defeating their opponents both at home and away, and taking maximum points from them.

At this moment, Leeds’ only options are to keep winning games and giving it their all so that Leicester, Ipswich, and even Southampton‘s mistakes may be thoroughly exploited.

It will be an extremely busy finale to the season with every result signifying more and more, so it should be exciting if things go their way on Saturday.
