Kyril Louis-Dreyfus urged to sell Sunderland after see more…

Sunderland owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus has been urged to sell the club if he can’t do one thing.

In February 2021, Kyril Louis-Dreyfus

was appointed chairman of Sunderland, and sixteen months later, he became the main stakeholder.

The 26-year-old acquired Stewart Donald alongside Juan Sartori, with KLD holding

64% and his Uruguayan partner acquiring 36%.

KLD enjoyed an immediate impact at the club as he helped guide Sunderland back

to the Championship, and also brought in the likes of Jack Clarke, Dan Ballard

and Trai Hume to set fans’ tails wagging.Sporting director Kristjaan

Speakman has helped change the philosophy at the club, aiming to bring

in young talent and sell them for profitWhile the new ‘model’ really

benefitted the club for the first couple of years, the Black Cats have begun to feel

the punishment of only investing into inexperienced players this seaSteve

Davison was the first figure to be sent

packing after a disastrous campaign, while many fans have called for Kristjaan Speakman’s sacking too.

The Swiss-French owner may not be the richest in the world, but he has – for the

most part – proven that we can do what we are doing without bags of cash.

There wouldn’t have been many complaints if Sunderland had made it to

the play-offs last season. With a relatively youthful team, we could have

won back-to-back promotions, but we may have failed because of a long list of injuries.

Kristjaan Speakman is to blame for this season’s shortcomings; had he replaced

Tony Mowbray with a qualified player in December, we may have been vying for

a spot in the top division once more.

Despite his blunders, I don’t think Louis-Dreyfus is a poor owner, and we

wouldn’t be any better off without him either.

We might be on the right track if he can see the light and get rid of Speakman.

However, it would be great if Sartori chose to take a stand and prove his value to the team as well.
